Funky EPOS is a point-of-sale system built by event caterers who spent fifteen years selling out of a hatch. It keeps selling when the festival signal drops, splits your takings by event automatically, and never takes a cut of your card sales.
Square, Zettle, Loyverse and Toast are built for a shop with fixed WiFi, one location and a trading year that runs January to December. A festival trader has none of that. You are on a different field every weekend, the 4G dies the moment 30,000 people arrive, your season is twelve events long, and the organiser wants a takings split at the end of it.
On the cloud tiers, if the connection goes mid-trade Funky EPOS keeps taking sales into a local queue on the device and syncs the moment it is back — you never lose a sale. For pitches with no internet at all, the Custom tier runs fully offline on our on-site appliance or your own machine.
One tap to start an event, one tap to end it. Every sale is auto-segmented into the event it belongs to — "Summer Fest 2026 · Day 1" — so your accountant and the event organiser both get a clean split with no spreadsheet work.
"Riverside Festival 2026 vs 2025: gross +18%, halloumi +80%, burgers −12%." That is the number that tells you what to load the van with next season. No other festival POS gives you this.
The software never takes a percentage of your takings. Use the SumUp or Zettle reader you already own, or ask us — we have card-processing rates we can set traders up with.
One device switches between your bar menu and your food menu, so you are not paying for and carrying a second till just to sell a pint.
Funky EPOS runs in a browser, so the kit list is short — and most traders already own half of it.
Any reasonably recent iPad or Android tablet. Nothing to install — you open your Funky EPOS address and add it to the home screen. A phone will do at a push.
SumUp, Zettle, whatever is in the van. We do not lock you to a processor and we do not clip your takings, so your reader choice stays yours.
Optional but recommended. We use Star CloudPRNT printers, which pull their own tickets over the internet — no IP addresses, no bridge box, no IT person. Buy through us and it arrives pre-paired. No printer yet? Digital receipts work from day one.
A phone hotspot is enough for a single trader; 4G or Starlink for a multi-till setup. Sales keep working through a dropout either way. If your pitch has no signal at all, the Custom tier runs fully offline.
Any spare tablet or monitor becomes a kitchen display, or route tickets to a second printer in the kitchen. £5/mo on Pro, added when you are ready.
A "preparing / ready" display facing the queue, so nobody has to ask whether theirs is up yet. £5/mo on Pro.
First month free. Standard is £5/mo or £50/yr, Pro £10/mo or £100/yr, both plus VAT, cancel any time and export your data whenever you like. Event Mode and the year-on-year comparison sit on Pro. The Custom tier covers full-offline pitches and bespoke kit. There is never a per-transaction fee on any tier.
Compare that to a card processor taking roughly 1.75% of everything: on a £20,000 festival weekend that is £350 of your money, on one event, versus £10 for a month of Pro.
It is a till designed for traders who sell from a hatch at events rather than from a fixed shop. The differences that matter are surviving a dropped signal, splitting takings by event rather than by month, running on kit you can carry, and being obvious enough that seasonal staff can use it without training.
A tablet per till, a card reader you already own, and optionally a Star cloud receipt printer with a cash drawer. That is it. Funky EPOS runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install and no proprietary hardware to buy.
On the cloud tiers, sales keep going into a local queue on the device if the signal drops mid-trade and sync the moment you are back online. For a pitch with no connection at all, the Custom tier runs fully offline on our on-site appliance or your own machine.
No. Funky EPOS never takes a cut of your takings on any tier. You pay the monthly software fee and nothing else, and you keep your own card processor.
Yes. Bring your SumUp, Zettle or whatever you already trade on. If you would rather we sorted it, ask — we have rates we can set traders up with.
Event Mode. Tap to start the event, tap to end it, and every sale in between is tagged to that event. The Event Mode Z-report gives you gross, refunds, net and a cash versus card split for that event alone, which is normally exactly what the organiser is asking for.
Yes, on Pro — multiple tills share one synced menu, so a price change on one lands on all of them.
